2013 — The Musician's Notebook
Back in 2013, as an active musician, I found myself constantly transcribing new tracks and trying to figure out chords on the fly. I desperately needed a reliable place to store my notes—a personal archive where I could organize chords in my own style and pull them up easily during practice. What began as a private digital notebook to keep my repertoire in check was the first seed of this website.
The Teacher's Tool
As my musical journey expanded into teaching, this personal archive took on a much broader and more meaningful purpose. It transitioned into a practical, hands-on learning resource for my students. I used this platform to help them study chord structures, explore guitar chord charts and shapes, analyze chord progressions, read guitar tabs, understand song arrangements, and so much more to hone their musical skills.
A Free Music Education Platform
Seeing how much this resource helped my students grow musically, I decided to keep the doors wide open for the public. Today, the site stands as a free educational reference for anyone eager to study and understand the mechanics of the music they love.
Built purely for learning, not profit, this platform remains a labor of love. You might notice a few small advertisements placed around the pages. These simply exist to help cushion the annual custom domain fees and the minor everyday expenses required to keep this educational resource online. And, of course, they occasionally fund the late-night cups of coffee that keep me transcribing and organizing study materials into the early hours of the morning.
